Athlete Spotlight: Cory Paterson

Athlete Career Transition (ACT) is giving a big shout out to Cory Paterson this week, recognising the former athlete’s fantastic progress in his post-sport career.

Cory played rugby league for a number of first-class teams in a career stretching over ten years. Transitioning from sport into business with ACT, Cory became a Business Executive at Resource Solutions in July 2023.

Cory Paterson

Born in Perth, Western Australia, Cory Paterson honed his rugby league skills with the South Perth Lions before gaining recognition at St Francis Xavier's College. Representing Australia at schoolboy level in 2005, he debuted for the Newcastle Knights in 2007.

Overcoming numerous challenges and a release by the Knights in 2011, Paterson made a comeback at the North Queensland Cowboys, contributing significantly to their finals series.

Moving to England, Cory’s 2012 stint with Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League was followed by appearances for Salford Red Devils for the 2015 season. Later, Paterson played for Leigh Centurions in 2016 and joined the Toronto Wolfpack in 2017, concluding a diverse career that spanned Australia, the UK and Canada.

Athlete Career Transition Co-Director, Andy Moore said:

“Cory has so much elite performance experience under his belt, and he’s a huge asset to the teams he joins. It was great to collaborate with Cory and ensure his smooth transition from sport into business.”
